Each Week

an incredible army of volunteers bring their gifts, talents, and time to help make C3 Crawley a place we can all be proud to call home.  We believe in creating an atmosphere that is welcoming and excellent.  A place you can feel at home and free to worship.

Our volunteer teams are inclusive and we welcome all contributions and skill levels across our various departments.  Teams are also a great way to get involved in the community and meet new, wonderful people!  There are so many areas to get involved in!

WHY WE SERVE

There is something unique about being “willing”. There’s something powerful about helping. The Apostle Paul encouraged his friend Philemon, “I wanted you to help because you were willing, not because you were forced.” The actions of serving in God’s House helps the place run better and brighter. Serving will also help you identify and discover your spiritual gifts.

There are many different ways people can to serve (volunteer) at C3 Church in Crawley. Jesus expressed in Matthew 20:28 – “He did not come to be served but to serve others”, we believe that to truly fulfil the calling upon your life, you need to live a life of sacrifice and serving.

There are additional benefits to serving that are often overlooked. These are “secular benefits”. Many company bosses truly appreciate their staff being committed to voluntary organisations that serve the community. Serving and leading volunteers requires a different skill set to managing staff. These skills, developed over time, become ingrained in team leaders and these skills are highly valued in the corporate world. As you serve the house of God, you are required to turn up on time, occasionally fill in for someone who cannot make it this time, be kind and welcoming to people you don’t know, do an excellent job – even though you may not be rewarded or compensated (in this life), perform additional duties that most others will not see, and do all of this and more every week/month. Any employer would JUMP OUT OF THEIR SKIN to employ someone who flourished with this work ethic.

Lastly, our work ethic of excellence helps build a healthy rapport with our bosses and colleagues in the marketplace. This gives us opportunity to share our faith – at the very least by our example Monday through Friday.

We need to teach our children that God put them here to make a contribution, not just take up space watching TV or playing video games. It is only in giving our lives away that we find out what life’s all about.

What will be your contribution? What will be your children’s contribution? How will we use our God-given talents? Will we use them just to benefit ourselves or will we use them to help others?

Everything in our society teaches us to use our talents for ourselves – make a lot of money, retire, be comfortable and die. That’s the dream. But deep down inside we know we were made for more than that. We know instinctively that there is a bigger purpose in life. It’s that deep desire inside us. We may have covered it up with our fear of failure, but it’s still there, the desire to make a difference. We have been “blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2)

What will be the contribution of your life? The Bible says, “God has given each of you some special abilities. Be sure to use them to help each other, passing on God’s many kind of blessing” (1 Peter 4:10 LB).

God’s way is giving. He gave His only Son Jesus for us. He sent His Holy Spirit for us. He helps us more than we realise every single day. It is good for us to serve others.
